Botox
BOTOX® is a quick and safe procedure which has very little impact on usual activity on the day of injection. Tiny injections are delivered to relax the action of the muscles that create excessive movement and leave wrinkles on the skin.
Care of the Injection Sites
You may like to observe the following to allow the Botox to work optimally in the target muscle:
■ Avoid touching and massaging the treated area in the first 4 hours. In addition, try to avoid flexing and stretching the facial muscles too.
■ Avoid excessive alcohol consumption the day before and after treatment.
■ Avoid wearing tight caps/ headbands.
■ Keep upright for 4 hours following the treatment.
■ If there is redness or bumpiness, apply a lightweight cold or cool compress to the treated area for a few minutes after the procedure, but avoid massaging.
■ Gentle cleansing and moisturiser/make up application with clean hands is okay.
What to Expect After your Treatment
Bruising or Bumps
■ A small minority of people may have some bruising. The appearance of any bruising can be minimised with make-up.
■ For a few minutes after treatment, small bumps may be visible on the skin. These disappear quite quickly. There will be a temporary material used to seal the access point. This may wear away to some degree before the next visit.
Resuming normal activities
Normal daily activity can be resumed immediately after treatment.
After 4 hours, light exercise can be performed
■ Walking
■ Jogging
■ Gentle yoga or pilates classes, avoid lying down or upside down positions
■ Wait 24 hours before strenuous exercise, such as
■ Weight training
■ Cross training
■ HIIT exercise
■ Long distance running
Headaches
■ True Botox allergies are very rare. Temporary headache is the most commonly reported symptom after Botox, but the number of people who report headaches is very small compared to the number of treatments performed. Any headache can be treated with your normal painkiller.
Please call Artiste Studios if
■ You are experiencing symptoms more intense or of longer duration than those described above.
Taking Care of Your Treatment
The beauty of non-surgical treatments is that they are non-invasive and not permanent; when the treatment wears off, you will look as you did before you had the treatment. Treatment can be repeated, at that time or left for a longer duration. Scientific evidence shows that the effects of Botox generally last about 12-16 weeks.
