Peaceful Sleep Anti-Snoring Device

Artiste Studios is happy to assist you with your Peaceful Sleep Anti-Snoring Device.

The device is designed to hold your lower jaw in a slightly advanced position which opens your airway, leading to a more peaceful and restful night’s sleep.

You should gradually adjust the device over a few weeks to find the optimum setting.

The appliance should be worn as indicated by your clinician.

Fitting and removal

■ Fit the appliance in your mouth from one side to the other, using your thumbs, and finally check it is fitting tightly on your teeth.

■ To engage device, move lower jaw forward and close mouth.

■ To disengage, move lower jaw forward, unhook by opening mouth.

■ To remove it from your teeth, use your fingers towards the back of the appliance.

■ You are advised not to insert or remove while lying on your back, and also to avoid sleeping on your stomach.

■ If the appliance is loose and does not fit securely into position, please stop wearing and contact us.

■ Always inspect device each night prior to wearing. Do not use and consult your dentist if you observe any cracks, material separation or increased play in the adjusting mechanism.

Adjusting the Device

■ Use the key to adjust the device:

■ clockwise rotation for forward movement and

■ anti-clockwise rotation for backward movement.

■ Forward movement will enable your lower jaw to be held in a forward position increasing the opening of your airway.

■ We recommend that you advance the component one full turn every week until snoring stops and that this adjustment is done whilst not wearing device.

■ If you feel any resistance whilst making adjustments with the key, stop turning immediately then check for obstructions within the mechanism or if the hook has reached the end of its permitted travel, contact your dentist if you need any advice.

What to Expect

Sensitivity and Tenderness

■ It is somewhat normal to feel some discomfort and tenderness in the jaw, teeth and gums over the next few days as they adapt.

■ These symptoms are temporary and usually respond very well to over-the-counter pain medications if necessary.

■ If ulcers develop, we advise rinsing with salt water to encourage healing.

Keeping your teeth and appliance clean

■ Brush your teeth and the appliance after each use.

■ To clean the appliance, rinse with water and brush gently with a toothbrush and liquid soap or mouthrinse. Avoid using toothpaste as it may scratch the surface of the splint, causing it to pick up more stains in the future.

■ Once a week, you may like to place the appliance to soak with water and a commercially available effervescent retainer tablet. Follow the instructions.

Avoiding breaking/losing your appliance

■ Always keep the appliance in the small hard plastic case provided, when it is not in use.

If you have any other questions, please contact the practice and we will be happy to help.
